About Us
The ProActive story began with the vision of a highly customized, active travel company that would do things differently and better than other tour operators. This vision was put into action when co-founders Jeff Davis and Michael Green worked together at the New England Patriots/New England Revolution professional sports organization. Jeff served the Revolution as assistant to the general manager and game operations coordinator, and Michael worked in marketing and sales. Although both were passionate about their careers in sports management, they also shared an enthusiasm for travel, outdoor sports, and experiencing new cultures and ways of life. As a result, they decided that the best way to share this passion with others was to launch ProActive Travel to bring guests a “whole new way to see the world.”
Founder/CEO Jeff Davis acquired a love for travel at an early age. As a young boy, he was often found giving geography quizzes to classmates and was accused by teachers of daydreaming about various destinations in Europe that he wanted to visit. After numerous family vacations across the Atlantic as an adolescent, including a student exchange to Sweden in high school, Jeff spent two years of university in France studying French language, culture, and history. He was hooked on travel and loved the variety of outdoor sports activities available in nearby Chamonix and the French Alps. Jeff received BA degrees in History and French from Southern Adventist University and decided that a career in international business would be the best way to utilise his passion for travel and knowledge of foreign cultures. After spending three years studying at the elite EM Lyon Graduate School of Management in Lyon, France, Jeff holds a Masters of Science in Business Management (Msc) degree. As ProActive Travel’s CEO, Jeff continues to travel extensively and is passionate about sharing his travel experiences with others. In addition to his work with ProActive Travel, Jeff is also a professional level soccer referee both in France and in the United States, a high school basketball coach, and enjoys participating in multi-sport alpine adventure races.
For Founder/President Michael Green, travel and exploration have always been a vital part of his family’s tradition. Michael’s grandfather has been organizing trips and vacations to over 50 countries worldwide for friends and colleagues for decades. Inspired by Michael’s grandfather and his love of travel, Michael’s family toured extensively throughout the United States and abroad during Michael’s childhood.
By the age of 16, Michael had traveled to nearly every state in the continental US and was looking for new horizons. This desire to explore the unknown has taken him extensively throughout Europe, Africa, and North America. Michael holds a BS in Business degree from the University of New Hampshire and has also worked in the sales, marketing, and financial investments industries. Now serving as ProActive Travel’s President, Michael spends most of his time in Europe and enjoys sharing his passions and experiences with others. In his spare time, Michael enjoys playing soccer and basketball, coaching youth soccer, and volunteering at his church
